Rottweilers, like all puppies, require specific vaccinations and deworming treatments to help protect them from common diseases and parasites. All of our puppies are microchipped, dewormed, and upto date on vaccines.
Bellow is a general timeline for vaccinations and deworming based on a typical veterinary schedule. However, it’s important to always follow your veterinarian’s advice, as schedules may vary depending on your location and other factors.
Vaccinations:
- 6-8 weeks
- Vaccines:
- Distemper
- Parvovirus
- Adenovirus
- Parainfluenza (Combination vaccine known as DHPP or DAPP)
- Deworming:
- Roundworms and hookworms (common at birth)
- Treatment should be given every 2 weeks until 12 weeks old.
- Vaccines:
- 10-12 weeks
- Vaccines:
- DHPP (Booster)
- Leptospirosis (Optional, consult with your vet depending on your area)
- Deworming:
- Roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms
- Second deworming treatment, depending on the vet’s recommendation.
- Vaccines:
- 14-16 weeks
- Vaccines:
- DHPP (Third booster)
- Rabies (Required by law in most areas, typically given around 16 weeks)
- Bordetella (Optional, especially for dogs that might be exposed to other dogs in kennels or dog parks)
- Deworming:
- If needed, a third round of deworming (check with your vet).
- Vaccines:
- 18-20 weeks
- Vaccines:
- DHPP (Final puppy booster)
- Leptospirosis (If not yet vaccinated)
- Deworming:
- Deworming may be repeated depending on vet advice.
- Vaccines:
- 1 Year (First Adult Vaccine)
- Vaccines:
- DHPP (Booster)
- Rabies (Booster, depending on local regulations)
- Bordetella (If exposed to other dogs frequently)
- Deworming:
- Regular deworming every 6-12 months as recommended.
- Vaccines:
Ongoing Adult Vaccines:
- Every 1-3 years, Rottweilers may need boosters for vaccines like DHPP and Rabies, depending on your vet’s protocol and local laws.
- Leptospirosis and Bordetella may require annual boosters if recommended by your vet.
Deworming Schedule:
- Every 2-3 weeks until 12 weeks old: Deworm with a broad-spectrum dewormer, especially for roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms.
- After 12 weeks: Deworming can be done at regular intervals based on vet advice, typically every 3-6 months or more frequently if your dog is exposed to parasites.
Note:
- Your vet may recommend additional vaccines like Canine Influenza, Lyme disease, or Kennel Cough, depending on your dog’s lifestyle or risk of exposure to certain diseases.
- If your Rottweiler is exposed to ticks or other environmental hazards, your vet may also suggest flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
Always ensure you follow your veterinarian’s schedule, as they will adjust it based on your dog’s health, lifestyle, and any local disease outbreaks.
